What is Medical Fitness?
Medical Fitness is the seamless integration of healthcare, wellness, and fitness. The goal of medical fitness is not to train like a body-builder, but rather to strengthen the body in a way that promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for years to come. Who can benefit from Medical Fitness? Is pain or an injury preventing you from working out for fear of making things worse? Do you have a pre-existing condition, such as arthritis, stenosis, osteoporosis, neurological or cardiovascular disease, and are not sure which exercises will be the most effective and appropriate? Have you had surgery or are you preparing for surgery, but are uncertain which exercises are safe to perform? Have you been injured in the past, while exercising on your own or with a personal trainer, and are apprehensive about re-injuring yourself? Have you tried an exercise program and been unhappy with the results? If any of this sounds like you, know that you are not alone. We see people all the time whose same fears and concerns kept them on the couch, leading sedentary lives. We get it! Choosing the right type of exercise can be difficult and confusing. All you have to do is turn on the television, open a magazine or search the internet and you will find tons of advice on the “most effective” ways to work out or the “latest” exercise fad. With all the information out there about exercise, it’s hard to know what’s really best for you. Finding a safe and effective exercise program, especially as we age, often requires the help of an expert. As physical therapists we have the knowledge and skill set needed to identify and understand the root causes of imbalances in the body. Taking into consideration any pre-existing conditions or injuries, we will design a fitness program tailored to your individual needs and goals. So the next important thing is to take action. |

"After my rather extensive knee surgery, I was hesitant to begin a fitness program. I was afraid of being pushed too hard or reinjuring myself. I needed someone whom I could trust. You gave me the confidence to start a fitness program. I trusted you to know the limitations of my body while consistently improving my strength, flexibility and balance. I owe the active lifestyle that I enjoy today directly to your excellent skills, knowledge, professionalism, and patience. Active 4 Life is #1 in my book!"

"What a difference Jennifer and Bryan have made in my life! I work out with them on a regular basis, twice a week. More than a personal trainer, they are like having my own private physicians. Their knowledge and expertise is incredible. I'm comfortable contacting them any time with questions because I really believe they genuinely care about my physical well-being. I feel so fortunate to have connected with them and can't imagine not having their support!"

"I hadn’t considered physical therapy initially because I hadn’t had an accident or surgery which required PT as part of my recovery. I had what I would call “annoying aches and pains” which wouldn’t go away and as a last resort, I tried physical therapy. What a difference in the quality of my life it made! Within weeks, I was feeling better and moving more easily. I will never be a doubter again and highly recommend Jennifer and Bryan for both accident/surgical related issues as well as issues which affect the quality of your life."
